Aquarium Water Filtration System

Aquarium Water Filtration System

Water quality is paramount to the health and stability of aquariums and other controlled eco-systems. Contaminants such as: Chlorine,Chloramine, Heavy Metals, Ammonia, Nitrates, Dissolved Solids and Organics must be removed. Water must be purified before it is introduced into a living system and contaminants that may naturally build up in a closed habitat need to be removed. Choose from a varietyof standard filters or contact our technical staff to discuss specificcontaminants of concern to you.

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane.

This membrane technology is not properly a filtration method. In reverse osmosis, an applied Pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure.

Reverse osmosis can remove many types of molecules and ions from solutions, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of potable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent  is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as the solvent) to pass freely.

Reverse osmosis is most commonly known for its use in drinking water purification water, removing salts and other effluent materials from the water molecules.

High Purity Deionization Cartridges

The process used for removal of all dissolved salts from water is referred to as deionization or demineralization. Deionizers (DI) remove both cations and anions, releasing hydrogen ions (H+) in exchange for the former, and hydroxyl ions (OH-) for the latter. The hydrogen and hydroxyl ions subsequently combine to form pure water. Mixed-bed deionizers produce water containing the lowest ionic concentrations. Dual-bed deionizers produce water of lesser quality, generally unacceptable for specialized medical purposes. Custom mixes of almost any kind as well as separate component are used for different applications. These combinations are most useful at the final polishing stage of the effluent.

Deionizaiton cartridges available in color changing, high purity, and high capacity configurations. Ideal for make up water from evaporation.
